What is the "Get it @ RPI" service?

Answer

Get it @ RPI is mainly Rensselaer's OpenURL product, SFX. The service consists of the SFX software, and is enhanced with LibKey Link and the Unpaywall API. You will see Get it @ RPI links or buttons throughout the library's research tools and platforms. Sometimes called a link resolver, or link server, Get it @ RPI attempts to connect you with full text resources Rensselaer Libraries provides access to.

If full text is unavailable, Get it @ RPI will present a menu with print holdings, and resource sharing or interlibrary loan options. If Get it @ RPI cannot get you directly to the full text, it will get you as close as it can. For example, it may bring you to the correct database where you will need to search for the title. Due to its limitations, OpenURL may occasionally fail due to insufficient metadata or vendor/platform changes. In these cases a librarian can try to help you.
