May I place a book or DVD on hold to pick up from the library?

Answer

Yes, you may place a hold on a physical library item, and pick it up from the library later. You will receive an email notifying you when the item is available.

How to place a hold:

In the catalog: Find the physical item you want and select "Place Hold." Then, login and follow the prompts to place a hold on the item. If the item is available, library staff will retrieve the item within 24 hours (Monday - Friday), and you will receive an email when the item is available at the service desk. Bring your RPI ID card with you to pick up the item.

In Quick Search: Find the physical item you want and select "Get it from the Library" or "Place Hold." Then, login and follow the prompts to place a hold on the item. If the item is available, library staff will retrieve the item within 24 hours (Monday - Friday), and you will receive an email when the item is available at the service desk. Bring your RPI ID card with you to pick up the item.
